Wide for Hospitals and Medical Facilities
Wide Clinic prepares pediatric patients for medical procedures through personalized digital rehearsal, dramatically reducing resistance and improving cooperation.
The Challenge You Know Too Well
Every day, your team faces:
-
Neurodiverse pediatric patients who refuse to cooperate with necessary procedures
-
Appointment cancellations due to patient anxiety and avoidance
-
Additional staff required for patient restraint and comfort
-
Delayed procedures causing cascading schedule disruptions
-
Trauma for children, families, and healthcare providers
-
Increased costs from extended procedure times and repeat visits
The ripple effect: One uncooperative child affects your entire
department's efficiency, staff morale, and patient satisfaction scores.
Wide Clinic is the first virtual platform of its kind that assists children in dealing with challenges, even in cases where they completely avoid performing a certain action.
Using personalized simulations, the children practice situations of being treated or going through a medical procedure, which helps them deal with that challenge in real life, too.

Preparing for checkups, treatments, surgeries and other medical procedures

Many children find it hard to walk into a clinic, to cooperate during a medical procedure and to go through it.
In many cases, that causes delays in line, creates noisy waiting rooms or the clinic itself (which can make it even harder for other children to undergo procedures), and makes it necessary for additional staff members to get involved. It’s too often that as a result, the child does not go through the procedure at all.

Wide’s platform allows for children to experience a situation safely before they undergo it in real life, so that they can perform it more smoothly and cooperatively with the medical team. Wide’s platform is based on a patented method that combines different research-based therapy approaches. The method includes practicing a situation and being rewarded, so that the children experience success by practicing and can later on perform that situation successfully in real life, too.

In cooperation with Wide’s team, a pool of simulations designed to mimic different medical procedures is created, according to the institution’s needs.
The personalized simulations are sent to parents using a link to practice in advance (for instance, while sending the appointment confirmation) or even while waiting for the checkup.
You can match a simulation to a specific checkup or create a series of scenarios for a child that will include some of the stages they will go through from the moment they arrive at the medical center and until the procedure is performed (waiting, taking vitals, IV prep, etc.).
Integrating Wide in the medical treatment can happen automatically without any need for guidance or involvement of the hospital staff. Using Wide can be independent, on any device, from anywhere.

Therapeutic Tool for Ongoing Procedures
When a child arrives at a hospital or a medical center for a series of treatments (for examples, child rehabilitation and development), Wide’s platform can be integrated for several other needs:

Therapeutic Tool that Incorporates into the Therapy Plan
Incorporating the platform in the therapy plan allows to deepen the process using the child’s independent work. It is recommended to include practice and play anchors at home between therapy sessions to create a therapeutic sequence and increase the therapy's efficiency. It is recommended to use in child rehabilitation and development.

Supportive Treatment Tool
In many cases, during treatment, the child struggles with walking into the doctor’s office, to cooperate with the doctor or nurse or use the tools.
Using Wide’s program, those challenges that make the treatment hard can be faced and help the child be more involved in the process.

Complementary Treatment Tool
During treatment, other challenges arise that are not a part of the treatment process (for example, potty training struggles, transition struggles, independent sleep, and more). Wide can assist with working on those challenges by incorporating practice while waiting and at home between treatments, thus giving the child a wide and holistic response.
Using and incorporating the program does not require the involvement of medical staff members. Common scenarios can be set in advance and linked to the scenarios that fit each child’s needs, and also incorporate a tutorial video for the parents to allow for independent use, which will reduce the medical staff workload and allow them to focus on the treatment’s goals.
Based on our experience, parents also look for ways to help alleviate their child’s fears of the medical procedure, and when parents are asked to practice in advance - it also helps in reducing the parent’s stress and anxiety levels.
