Wide’s platform is based on the child’s real surroundings, and it's goal is to be simple and efficient for the children. When children see themselves on the screen performing a behavior in their actual surroundings, they learn they can perform that behavior. In addition to their success, they are “rewarded” by watching a video they like that starts playing when they succeed, so they link the successful action with something they love.

It’s important to note that the platform’s graphics were integrated after several trials and consulting with experts who determined that for children, simplicity wins.

Behaviors are like a muscle. To strengthen a muscle, you must perform repetitions of the same exercise in a regular occurrence. In the exact same manner, the more you repeat an action, the easier it becomes. Think about the last time you tried to incorporate a new habit. Wide’s platform allows the child to try out those behaviors using a fun and gamified digital environment, but for the behavior to be assimilated - it’s required that the child repeat the practice until they start performing it in real life.

In one word: no. So much so that children often ask to go back to using Wide even after the therapy is complete. After all, for the child it’s a game, on a screen, where they play their own character, succeed in various situations, and finally watch their favorite videos. Based on past experience, if a child doesn’t participate enough, it is usually because the videos chosen are not their favorite. That’s why it’s important to choose the videos the child likes the most, and not videos you want them to watch. The goal here is for the child to perform the behavior - the videos are just the means.

Wide's patented method is based, on a theoretical level, on two research-based principles: behavioral principles (CBT and ABA) and VSM (Video Self Modeling). Wide's unique therapy method combines these principles in a new, gamified and fun way. By practicing using Wide's platform, the child succeeds, on the screen, in performing the desired behavior and receives reinforcement for their success. Repeated practice of this success brings the child to succeed in real life.

After a short registration process, we will need basic details about the child and their needs. Don't worry, all this information is highly encrypted (see: Is my information safe?). Next, you will create a scenario (simulation) based on your child's challenge.

Creating a scenario is simple and is done by following guided steps (accompanied by videos), and you can save your progress at any time. In case any questions or issues arise - our “fully human” consultants are at your disposal.

To create a scenario, you’ll need pictures of the child and the child's environment (for example: the living room, the kindergarten, the bathroom). Don't worry - there are clear instructions regarding taking the photos and our system knows how to "cut" the child out of the photo's background.

It’s also important to know which videos the child likes to watch the most (not which videos you like them to watch the most...), the choice of the child's favorite videos is crucial to their success.

The system has video access, so you can simply find the video there. If the video is not found - you can upload the videos yourself or record them using your device. There’s of course no issue with replacing the videos after you’ve created the scenario (2-4 videos are required).

After the scenario is ready - all you need is to start it and let the child play.

The goal is for the child to practice the simulation for a few minutes a day.

If you choose the videos correctly - these minutes will go by in an instant, and the child will be waiting to practice.

From our personal experience, we noticed that the best way to practice regularly is to start the practice immediately after giving the device to the child for the first time each day.

After a week or two of practicing (and sometimes even less) you might begin to see some changes in the child’s behavior in real life (depending of course on the child and their abilities). The change can be the beginning of performing a behavior, an improvement in handling the behavior or a substantial reduction of the child’s defiance towards the behavior. As the child will practice more and more consistently, those improvements will be more significant.
